Donald Trump and Democracy as We Know It
We received a communication from a US citizen who is concerned that "if Trump wins, he will concentrate his efforts to systematically dismantle the system of Democracy as we know it".
Our answer follows:
The "fear" is, as you put it, that "If Trump wins, he will concentrate his efforts to systematically dismantle the system of Democracy as we know it".
The problem is with "the system of Democracy" as it has been this century.
The reason for the first Trump victory was that those who voted for him did not like this system and wanted anything that would be different, and the only choice was Trump.
Now, after a Biden term, this system is even more disliked, and again the only alternative remains Trump.
If Trump were to disappear, there still would be a vacancy for anybody who will promise to destroy the system.
And this will continue to be so until the system either changes itself, or is changed by Trump or his equivalent.
The problem is not Trump, but the system as it is now.
